Nazism, Pre-Civil War Slavery, Abortion... VOLITION

I just read on Lifesite news about a short movie called Volition which the Pro-life movement MUST promote because I believe this will change hearts and minds, and (potentially) many lives as well. It's a very short but powerful film. I really feel God is behind this endeavor.

The word needs to get out about this film. It is absolutely relevant to TODAY, to the times we are living through right now. You can watch it on-line.

Two very young and talented brothers directed the film and composed the music, Tim Morgan (directed) is 23, Matthew, his brother (composed all of the music) is 20.

- What is the premise of Volition?

Quoted from movie review...
"Volition places its central character, who goes unnamed, in the historical contexts of what the filmmakers clearly believe to be three of the greatest human rights violations in history: the holocaust, slavery, and abortion. In each of these situations the protagonist is placed in a position of some authority, with the promise of more to come.."

"The protagonist is scripted as the perfectly volatile figure, the man who walks on the razor's edge: young, handsome, intelligent and capable, he is being embraced by the establishment in each historical age, invited by those who control the power and the prestige to climb the ranks and enjoy the benefits with them.

"But in each vignette he is caught between two alternatives that are so dramatically mutually opposed that they demand a radical choice. He cannot not act.
"

- What I think is a pretty amazing aspect is that the film leaves the first two scenario's in limbo, we don't know the action he will take... but in the third we do, because (historically) we can not change the course of past history and grave human rights violations as were done during the Holocaust and dark pre-civil war period of slavery, but there is something that can be done about abortion, in our day.

- This is a powerful powerful message that speaks to not only abortion but many of the issues raging against today's society, as well.

Quoted...

"The sheer beauty and artistry of "Volition," the excruciating attention to detail evidenced in every shot, and the emphasis on the human story over its moral, ensures that those who watch the film must, like its protagonist, respond with a choice. They cannot, no matter how much they disagree with its message at first glance, write it off as a boring, or unbelievable, or crude attempt at making a piece of pro-life propaganda and leave it at that. The film demands that the viewer either choose to go along with the parallelism, to accept the similarity between the three great human rights violations, or either reject it - to watch passively is impossible. Either the current situation with abortion is like these past cruelties, in which case it must be vigorously opposed with the full powers of the mind and body, or it is an entirely new situation. But either way, Volition ensures that its viewers cannot ignore the question as unimportant.
"

Italian Nuns Refuse to Kill Eluana Englaro

This article made me cry, and these nuns are an inspiration. It's not over yet for Eluana. Although her father won the ruling and the decision handed down by the Court of Cassation to remove her feeding and hydration tube, there is the possibility that even now the nuns can petition for legal gaurdianship.

In the meantime, they are just not doing it... praise God!

Italian Nuns Refuse to Kill Eluana Englaro

Quoted by the Misericordine nuns of Lecco

"Our hope, and that of many like us, is that the death by hunger and thirst of Eluana, and others in her condition, will not be carried out."

"That is why, once again, we maintain our availability, today and into the future, to continue to serve Eluana. If there are those who consider her dead, let Eluana remain with us who feel she is alive. We don't ask anything but the silence and the liberty to love and to devote ourselves to those who are weak, poor and little in return."

Quoted by Giulio Boscagli, Assessor to the Family and Solidarity in the region of Lombardy in which Eluana lives

"The ruling of the Court of Cassation seems to have lost sight of the reality" that Eluana is not dead but alive, although currently in a "seriously disabled condition."

The desire of the nuns to care for Eluana as though she is "a daughter," he said, "is the right path, the path taken by all those who daily take care of people who are in a vegetative state or very seriously disabled." Boscagli pledged the "closeness and support" of the Regione Lombardia for the nuns.

Eluana Englaro to Die by Dehydration after Italian High Court Ruling

http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/nov/08111405.html

"Eluana's father, followed by the world press, has consistently described his daughter's condition as "vegetative." Cardinal Barragan, however, told La Repubblica, "The term 'vegetative state' is appropriate for plants, not human beings." Eluana's supporters have reported that she opens her eyes and is not in a coma."

Ask yourself a few things... If this person is not suffering and requires no other life support than food and water, and other's are freely willing (asking nothing in return) to permanantly assume the responsibility of taking care of them, why would a court refuse them? What humane reasoning or rationale would be behind that?

I pray God's will be carried out swiftly and that Italy will not follow the path of death that America and other nations have taken already.

We have to understand just how far the courts and legal systems will take these cases... to what point and by whose definition will human beings be classified as not having enough value or potential in a society's yardstick to live? It will go far beyond common sense, and you can be sure that "cost effectiveness" will drive what constitutes determining who will live and who will not.

Also understand that this will extend far beyond those who are "physically" ill or incapacitated.. but to the areas of "mental" or "emotional" impairment, whether it be short or long term.

And with the growing questionable ethics behind the methods and practices within the organ donation industry (worldwide), you can also expect that the price tag may be negotiable for some of these who will be worth more "dead" than alive depending on the viability of their organs.

Dr. Alveda King Speaks on Obama & the Nation

Obama Election Heals "White Guilt" at the Cost of Life and Family

The title of that commentary is pretty powerful, don't you think? Some quotes from an article by the neice of Martin Luther King Jr., a very strong pro-life and true "human" rights advocate.

http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/nov/08111705.html

Some quotes...

"So, now, with one fell swoop, America is faced with her greatest fears and highest hopes. These are the worst of times and the best of times, and the question is not what can we do but rather what will we do? Will we bury racist guilt and oppression along with the horrors of abortion and immorality? Or will we pretend that the dirty band-aid offered with this election will be enough to heal the wounds? "

"What is idolatry some ask? Idolatry is to sacrifice our babies' blood in the abortion mills, and then cause their little bodies to pass through the fire of the incinerators that rob them even of a decent burial. Idolatry is to sacrifice the virginity of our sons and daughters on the altars of the lewd music and films and Planned Parenthood's sexual revolution that entice them into explicit sexual conduct before they reach the marriage bed. Idolatry is to worship the un-mighty and dirty dollar to such a point that we spend everything on ourselves and have nothing left for the least of these..."

.... Now is the time to do what my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said: do what is right because it is right. Now is the time to rise up and be the America that cares for our poor, our huddled masses longing to be free.
